Almost all white gold rings are rhodium plated (also called "dipping"). During the course of normal wear and tear, your ring will get tiny scratches that make it look less shiny, and the plating starts to come off, making it look less bright white. It may also be dirty, or need other work. We'll clean your ring, inspect it to make sure your diamonds or gemstones are secure, polish it, and rhodium plate it. By the time we're done, your ring will look shiny and bright white again.
How do repairs work?
We specialize in jewelry repair, and we handle everything from ring sizing to delicate platinum jewelry restorations. We'll give you a firm quote before we begin work on your ring. For your security and peace of mind, we photograph, describe and insure every piece while it's here with us. At night, we keep your jewelry locked in our vault, so you can sleep easy. All jewelry repairs are done on-premises in our workshop, under the guidance of our owner, Certified Gemologist Appraiser and Master Jeweler George Fox.
Typical repairs take 1-2 weeks, but most Sparkle & Shine rings will be done sooner. If you need your ring by a certain date, please let us know.
When you visit, we're more than happy to clean any other jewelry you have as a complimentary service. We'll also inspect the settings for security. It doesn't matter where you bought it!
