Most design consultations are free. If a custom design requires extensive drawings or significant research, there is a $200 fee. The $200 fee is deducted from your custom jewelry of that design.

Appointments are recommended but not required. Appointments allow us to prepare ideas for you and eliminate waiting time, especially on Saturdays when the store is busier.

Most custom consultations are an hour or longer. We get to know your tastes, lifestyle, and design preferences as we work within your budget.

If you are not local or prefer working remotely, we complete the custom consultation by phone, text, or email.

Most custom pieces begin at $1,500 and go up from there. Some simple pieces will be less. Pieces with intricate designs and many gems will be more.

On average, custom jewelry is about $250 to $1,000 more than its ready-made counterpart.

We'll give you a maximum quote before beginning your custom jewelry. We won’t exceed our quote, and the final price is often lower.

Custom jewelry costs more because the manufacturing steps - sketches, digital model, 3D print, mold, and casting - are done for your unique piece alone. Ready-made jewelry styles are usually manufactured by the thousands.

Yes! We have extensive sources of mountings (jewelry ready to be set with stones) for you to select from. Because these designs have already been created, this option is usually less. You can browse thousands of styles here. Contact us for additional styles.

Yes you can! We’ll give you credit for the metal, including a special 30% bonus. We purchase:

• diamonds and many gemstones

• gold, platinum, and silver jewelry

• gold watches, coins, and teeth

• silver tea sets and silverware

The turnaround time from start to finish is about 8 weeks. We can usually accommodate shorter time frames when needed.

1. Design Consultation: This can be in-person, or we can assist you via text, phone, or email. Many of our clients are not local.

2. Computer Renders: We make a 3D model of your design, and send you the renders (computer images) for your approval before creating the physical piece. This usually takes about three weeks.

3. Modifications and final approval: You work with our in-house specialists to make adjustments, if any.

4. Casting: We print a 3D model, create a mold and cast your jewelry.

5. Setting and Finishes: Our master jewelers set your stones using a microscope, add any engravings and finishes, and final polish.

6. Quality Control: Your custom jewelry goes through three separate quality control inspections before you’re notified your jewelry is finished!

If you're local, you can stop in our Ventura, CA store. Appointments are recommended, but not required.

Yes we can! Jewelry reproductions are our specialty. Please note that we do not duplicate copyrighted jewelry. However, we can use them for inspiration!

We are happy to use your diamonds and gemstones! Many people have old or inherited jewelry that isn’t their style. Redesigning jewelry is our specialty and we’d love to help you!

If you don’t have a design in mind already, we’ll assist you in discussing the possibilities.

We can make your custom piece in white gold, platinum, or silver, though we usually don't recommend silver. Silver is softer and wears at a far faster rate than other metals. Since a significant portion of the cost is diamonds and gems (if any) and labor, you’ll get generations of enjoyment from a stronger metal.

An exception to this might be heavier pieces, for example large cuff bracelets or heavy pendants, where the metal price would be very significant to the overall cost.

We estimate the ring size for “surprise” custom rings. We ask you for your best guess, or you can show us a photo that includes their hand. There’s other tricks too, like sneaking a ring and bringing it to us, or simply drawing a ring’s inside circle on a piece of paper.

We’re pretty good at estimating finger sizes and find that this is not really a problem.

After you give them the ring, they come in for sizing. Not local? We’ll send you sizers with your ring!

If you want to use your sentimental metal, please inquire. Sometimes we can use your metal - usually yellow gold jewelry made from your yellow gold.

In other instances, reusing your metal will not give you the best results. If so, we’ll let you know. You can either keep your metal or be receive credit towards your custom design for it.

We are happy to work with lab diamonds, moissanite or gemstones!

All of Fox Fine Jewelry's custom jewelry is made with recycled, refined metal. Upon request we are happy to supply recycled diamonds and gems!

Your jewelry will be photographed, described, and insured at in-take and you’ll receive a copy of this. All work is done on premises and it is stored in a vault (far more secure than a safe).

It is estimated that about 97% of natural diamonds are ethically sourced. Those few that make it through are not sold at reputable channels such as Fox Fine Jewelry.

Natural diamonds are responsibly sourced in accordance with the Kimberley Process, which guides and monitors diamond mining. These diamonds are conflict free, meaning they are mined, cut, polished and distributed in ethical ways. The profits support local communities.

Fox Fine Jewelry only works with companies who guarantee their diamonds are responsibly sourced and traded under Kimberley Process, so you can feel comfortable purchasing and wearing them.
