Kenny Backer is a Ventura-based photographer who specializes in a plethora of different photography genres, but photographing marine life is his favorite. He first started taking photos of surfing and skateboarding, then expanded into landscapes and met his mentor, Cary Shapiro, who introduced him to wedding photography and portraiture. Now, Kenny often takes photos of weddings and events with his wife, Tami. She was a wedding coordinator when he met her, and now she is his second photographer and coordinator at weddings. Steve Cattanach’s interest in photography first began when he watched his dad take pictures at a young age. His love for photography increased even more when he took classes at a junior college. Since then, any place he goes to shoot with his dad is special to him. In fact, they just got back from the Eastern Sierra Wilderness in Northern California! Steve loves spending time outdoors and shooting landscapes – he says “I hope others get satisfaction out of what I find interesting. Art is everywhere, so why not capture and save that moment to share with everyone?” View Steve's photography here.
Denise Dewire has called Ventura home since 1963, but it wasn’t until more recently that she “accidentally” got into photography. She has always taken photos, but ever since she purchased a DSLR in 2012, she has taken workshops and taught herself the ins and outs of photography. Incidentally, photography has also resulted in Denise’s interest in birds. She had no idea of the variety of species she could find in her own backyard, and has gone to Santa Cruz to capture a shot of a rare bird. For a shot of scenery, she has traveled all the way to Italy! View Denise's photography here.
